McCrory’s 5 and 10 Cent Store was gutted by a stubborn, general alarm fire on Wednesday, July 19, 1967. The 2:40 P.M. fire caused an estimated $100,000 damage to the structure and contents. Bradford City Fire Chief Norman Rathfon requested mutual aid from Bradford Township. The fire originated in the third floor sign room as a result of a short circuit or an overheated electric light bulb. The fire probably smoldered for a considerable time. The fire spread into an attic area over the third floor and mushroomed out. Several large hose lines and the aerial master stream were needed to control the fire. The three story building originally housed the Wagner Opera House and later the Warner Business College
