On Friday, June 17, 1977, a 1:45 P.M. fire destroyed the Kinzua Korners complex on Route 59 in Marshburg. Bradford Township responded to the mutual aid call from the Kinzua Volunteer Fire Department with two tankers and a pumper. The rural location with no nearby water supply hampered firefighting operations. Other fire departments responding were Corydon Township, Eldred Township, Hamlin Township, Kane, Rew, Lewis Run and Hilltop. Bradford Township pressed into service a surplus forestry truck it had just received, but it had not yet placed into service. Three Lewis Run firemen received burns fighting the fire. Joseph Doriguzzi, Kenneth Hinaman and Thomas Hinaman were all treated and released at Bradford Hospital. The 100 firefighters from nine departments remained on the scene for over six hours. Damage was estimated at $800,000. Destroyed were the Safari Lounge, Burger Barn, a gift shop and a sporting goods store. State Police William McQuay investigated the fire.
